New development in the Eda Nur Gezer investigation

In Menekşe Beach Park, located in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district, 5-year-old Eda Nur Gezer lost her life after falling into a pool of water formed following excavation work. Four people were detained in the investigation launched following the incident.

Making a statement on the matter, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the incident being turned into political material, stating, "We will not leave those responsible unpunished. The investigation by judicial authorities is also ongoing. While we are experiencing the pain of our little child, we are also watching with shame as this incident is being turned into material for political exploitation, as is always the case."

Fugitive suspect Ali Sukas, General Manager of Istanbul Ağaç ve Peyzaj AŞ, came to the courthouse to give his statement. Sukas, who was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace by the prosecutor's office with a request for judicial control measures, is currently undergoing proceedings at the judgeship. 

ONE MORE PERSON RELEASED

In the investigation conducted regarding the death of 5-year-old Eda Nur Gezer, who fell into a water-filled pit opened by the municipality in a park while having a picnic with her family in Istanbul, one municipal employee was arrested yesterday after being referred to the Küçükçekmece Courthouse, while two employees were released.

Today, Istanbul Ağaç ve Peyzaj A.Ş. General Manager Ali Sukas gave his statement to the prosecutor's office and was released under judicial control following his testimony at the judgeship.
