Nut giant on the brink of bankruptcy
Peyman, a long-established brand in the nut industry, has faced economic difficulties following international investments and a period of rapid growth. The company has now filed for a concordat.
Founded in 1995 as a joint venture by the Mutlular, Güneş, and Kurtuluş families from Eskişehir, Peyman had succeeded in becoming one of Turkey's leading nut brands. However, struggling with economic difficulties in 2025, the company has taken a step toward bankruptcy by filing for a concordat.
One of the critical turning points in Peyman's success journey was the partnership formed with Esas Holding in 2008. Esas Holding, which included Ali Sabancı and Emine Sabancı Kamışlı on its board, led a major transformation by investing 11 million dollars into the company. While Peyman's production facilities were modernized, its export network expanded through strategies to enter foreign markets. By 2015, the company's sales revenue reached 300 million TL.
STARTED AN INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION
In 2017, Peyman was acquired by the private equity fund Bridgepoint for 110 million dollars. This sale enabled the company to achieve a stronger position in the global market. While the volume of exports to the Middle East, the Balkans, and Central Asia increased, Peyman expanded its production capacity across an area of 49 thousand square meters.
TRANSFERRED TO İŞ HOLDİNG IN 2022
In 2022, Peyman was transferred to İş Holding. However, this transfer marked the beginning of the company's financial troubles. Changes in management and economic fluctuations dragged the company into a difficult process. By 2025, Peyman reached a point where it could no longer pay its debts and filed for a concordat.
