Operation against terrorist organization MLKP: 96 people detained

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that an operation was carried out against the terrorist organization MLKP in 22 provinces, centered in Istanbul.

Stating that 96 suspects were apprehended within the scope of the operation, Yerlikaya used the following expressions:

“In our operations organized by our Police against the MLKP Armed Terrorist Organization in 22 provinces centered in Istanbul, we have apprehended 96 suspects.

As a result of the work carried out by our Istanbul Police Department Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Branch Directorates, under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, against individuals operating through the Armed Terrorist Organization's press and youth structures;

The suspects apprehended in the operations held in Istanbul-centered Antalya, Adıyaman, Şanlıurfa, Rize, Bursa, Van, Tekirdağ, Gaziantep, Samsun, Tunceli, Malatya, Diyarbakır, Kocaeli, Yalova, Balıkesir, Denizli, Ankara, İzmir, Sakarya, Adana, and Mersin were found to have;

Been active within the organization's 'youth structures, and press and propaganda structures,'

Received instructions through online meetings attended by the organization's high-level executives,

Participated in the organization's 30th-anniversary events and various organizations and so-called commemorative activities carried out in line with the organization's instructions, 

Made posts containing the organization's propaganda. Investigations have been launched against them. 

Our fight against terrorism is based on a multidimensional effort that is not limited to the field operations of our law enforcement agencies, but encompasses security, intelligence, communication, and international cooperation. We continue our struggle to ensure peace and stability in every region of our country.”
