Organized troll provocation on social media: Provocative posts emerge using 'Political Alevism' rhetoric

Posts targeting Alevi citizens on social media platforms are drawing attention.

Provocative messages, particularly those using the 'Political Alevism' rhetoric, which clearly appear to be planned, have sparked backlash for inciting social sensitivities.

Furkan Bölükbaşı, known for his provocative posts, brought the concept of Political Alevism to the agenda and used expressions targeting Alevi citizens.

It was observed that Bölükbaşı attempted to fuel discrimination on social media with his rhetoric in this direction.

Another figure who previously made headlines for his sexually explicit correspondence, AKP member Mücahit Birinci, also shared provocative content targeting Alevi citizens.

Birinci's posts featuring images of Yavuz Sultan Selim caused a social outcry.

The simultaneous development of rhetoric against Alevis by both these individuals and well-known troll accounts has brought the question, “Is there an organized plan behind these attempts?” to the agenda.

Many social media users expressed that such rhetoric aims to divide society through sectarian differences and carries potential risks that could disrupt internal peace in Turkey.

While the concept of Political Alevism, suddenly circulated by pro-government trolls, is evaluated as a new discourse with the potential to create division in society, it has been alleged that it aims to create psychological pressure on the Alevi community.

In the reactions to the social media posts, it was emphasized that there is an attempt to disrupt Turkey's internal peace through sectarian divisions and that the public should remain level-headed against such provocations.

ACADEMIC FATİH YAŞLI: “THE TERM POLITICAL ALEVISM IS A THREAT DIRECTED AT SOCIETY”

Academic Fatih Yaşlı made striking assessments regarding the “Political Alevism” rhetoric, which was simultaneously launched on social media and targets Alevi citizens.

Yaşlı stated that this rhetoric is a threat not only to Alevis but also to all segments of society that have been objecting to Islamist projects for years.

Fatih Yaşlı included the following statements in his remarks:

“The term ‘Political Alevi,’ which was put into circulation in Turkey following the jihadists' occupation of Syria, is a massive threat directed from the very top not only at Alevis but at all segments of society that have been objecting to the Islamist project for years. This must be recognized.”
