Passenger bus with 30 people on board catches fire on the highway! Driver prevents disaster
A Mercedes-brand passenger bus belonging to the AS Adana company, traveling from Samsun to Adana, caught fire in its engine compartment at the Damlama location on the highway. Passengers were evacuated and saved at the last moment. The bus, which was extinguished by fire crews, was reduced to a heap of scrap metal.
The Mercedes-brand passenger bus with license plate 01 ANG 987, operated by S.S. and belonging to the AS Adana company, was traveling from Samsun toward Adana when it caught fire in the engine compartment as it reached the Damlama location on the Pozantı-Tarsus route.
Noticing the fire, the driver pulled the bus onto the highway's emergency lane and immediately began evacuating the passengers.
The 30 passengers and staff on board were evacuated, saving their lives at the last moment.
Upon notification, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality fire crews arrived at the scene and began efforts to extinguish the bus. When the crews put out the fire, only a heap of scrap metal remained of the bus.
While the vehicle was rendered unusable, fortunately, no one was injured. Passengers claimed that the bus had been breaking down repeatedly since departing from Samsun.
