Prices announced: Tender process for new taxi plates in Istanbul begins
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is putting 150 new taxi plates up for tender to meet the city's transportation needs. Participation requirements and process details for the tender have been announced.
In order to make transportation in Istanbul more efficient, the Metropolitan Municipality will offer 150 new taxi plates for lease for a period of 29 years. This step aims to increase taxi services in the city.
Those wishing to participate in the tender must deposit a temporary guarantee of 135 thousand 36 Turkish Lira. The estimated value of the plates has been set at 4 million 501 thousand 200 Turkish Lira plus VAT. The market value of existing taxi plates is around 7.5 million Turkish Lira.
The deadline for submitting bids for the tender has been set for September 1, 2025, at 12:00. The tender will be held on September 2, 2025, at 11:00 at the Dr. Mimar Kadir Topbaş Performance and Art Center.
Participants will be able to lease a maximum of one taxi plate for a period of 29 years. Those participating in the tender must meet the conditions specified in the Council of Ministers Decision No. 10553 and must have chosen the profession of driving as their source of livelihood. Additionally, they are required not to own any other public transport vehicle plate.
Applicants must submit a QR-coded Population Registration Sample obtained via e-Government, driver's license information showing they hold at least a Class B license, a QR-coded Residence Certificate proving they reside in Istanbul, and a Criminal Record Certificate not older than 6 months, queried by official institutions. Participants are also required to be at least 22 years old and not yet 69 years old.
Not having been convicted of crimes specified in the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237 in the criminal record is also among the mandatory conditions.
