DEM Party Mardin MP George Aslan has drawn attention with a new legislative proposal submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Aslan proposed an amendment to the Law on National Holidays and General Vacations to declare December 25, Christmas Day, an official holiday.
The justification for the proposal emphasized that Turkey holds a significant position in the history of Christianity. Citing places such as Antakya and İznik, where the first Christian communities were located, the proposal highlighted the importance of this geography for Christianity.
