Refrigerator explodes in Silivri: Fire breaks out

A fire broke out in a home in Silivri as a result of a refrigerator explosion. The fire started at approximately 9:15 PM last night in a 5-story building located in the Silivri Piri Mehmet Paşa neighborhood. Those who saw smoke rising from the apartment on the top floor of the building notified the fire department. As the smoke engulfed the building, residents evacuated on their own.

Meanwhile, a 75-year-old woman who was in the house was rescued by building residents. As explosions occurred from time to time in the burning apartment, those in the vicinity experienced great panic.

Upon notification, fire crews arrived at the scene and began efforts to extinguish the fire. Medical teams conducted health checks on the building residents. The crews brought the flames under control in a short time and extinguished the fire. It was determined that the fire started as a result of an explosion in the refrigerator's motor. While there were no injuries in the incident, the apartment sustained damage.
