A customer dining at a restaurant in Ankara was shocked when they saw the bill. Stating that they paid a total of 1,000 lira for four servings of cacık, the customer filed a complaint with CİMER, alleging that the price was not clearly stated on the menu. After the incident was shared on social media, an inspection was carried out at the establishment by the Ministry of Trade.
34 ITEMS FOUND TO HAVE DIFFERENT PRICES DURING INSPECTION
According to the report on NTV, Ministry of Trade teams compared the price list at the entrance of the restaurant with the menu displayed via a QR code. The investigation revealed that the prices of 34 items differed between the two lists.
While it was observed that a single serving of cacık was priced at 250 lira on the QR code menu, it was determined that the price discrepancies between the two separate lists were not limited to just the cacık. Following the identified inconsistencies, the inspections at the business were concluded.
RESTAURANT FINED 135,082 LIRA
Following the audits and investigations, an administrative fine of 135,082 lira was imposed on the business under the scope of the 1st paragraph of Article 9 of the Price Label Regulation.
Bekir Kaplan, Press and Public Relations Advisor to the Ministry of Trade, also made a statement regarding the matter on his social media account. Kaplan reported that an inspection was carried out at the business upon the complaint submitted to CİMER and that an administrative fine was imposed due to the violations detected.
