Road collapses in Ankara: 10-meter pit forms

In Ankara's Yenimahalle district, on Süleyman Şah Street, the road reportedly collapsed due to accumulated sewage water underneath.

Due to the pit, which is 10 meters deep and 4 meters wide, the street was closed to vehicle traffic and security measures were taken around the area. Inspection and repair work have been initiated by the teams on the road.

Speaking about the incident, Efe Ahmetoğlu said, "The road collapsed in the morning hours. At first, they didn't understand the reason. When the collapsed area started to draw water, they learned that the cause was the sewage system, which had been faulty for a long time. I think they are going to excavate the entire road. It wasn't known how soft the soil was underneath. The burst sewage pipe had eroded the soil from below over the years. As the teams pump water out of the pit, it fills up again. There is no loss of life or injury, but this situation causes trouble for people."
