Scandalous request from a person calling 112 on Valentine's Day: Fined

Following the incident, 112 Emergency Call Center officials issued a warning titled "A Reminder on Valentine's Day." The statement included the phrases, "Love is beautiful, but 112 Emergency Call is a serious matter. 112 should not be called for certain heart palpitations."

The citizen, who was determined to have occupied the emergency line unnecessarily, was issued an administrative fine of 1,882 TL under the Misdemeanors Law.

Officials emphasized that 112 Emergency Call Centers should be used for vital services such as health, security, and fire departments, stating that unfounded and unnecessary calls delay access for those in real need. It was warned that such calls could lead to putting a life that could be saved in an emergency at risk.

The dialogue that took place on the phone between the citizen and the 112 operator:

-Emergency Call Center.

-Good evening, hope you're doing well.

-Thank you. What is your emergency?

-I am speaking with Muğla 112, right?

-That is correct, sir. I am listening.
