Ship traffic in the Dardanelles suspended in both directions
The Dardanelles has been closed to transit ship traffic due to fog.
Transit ship traffic in the Dardanelles has been temporarily suspended in both directions due to dense fog.
The fog, which intensified towards the early morning hours off the coast of the strait, caused visibility at sea to drop.
The Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Directorate announced to the captains of ships sailing from the north and south via radio broadcast that the strait was closed to two-way transit ship traffic as of 06:20.
It was stated that ship traffic would return to normal once the fog loses its effect.
On the other hand, ferry services on the Çanakkale-Eceabat and Çanakkale-Kilitbahir lines have also been temporarily suspended due to the fog.
