The Competition Authority has decided to investigate the operations of the digital music platform Spotify in Turkey. In a statement published on the institution's website, it was noted that allegations regarding Spotify negatively impacting competition in the music sector will be investigated.
Within the scope of the investigation, complaints that Spotify is making it difficult for competitors to conduct business and is discriminating against artists and content creators will be evaluated. Furthermore, claims that certain artists are being granted greater visibility and that unfair practices are being employed in the distribution of royalties will also be examined in detail. During this process, it will also be investigated whether Spotify has violated the Law on the Protection of Competition.
