Terrifying moments caught on camera in Mersin: 12-year-old student shoots school principal with rifle in schoolyard
In the Anamur district of Mersin, a 12-year-old student opened fire on the school principal with a rifle in the schoolyard. The seriously wounded principal was taken to hospital, while the child, who attempted to flee, was apprehended shortly afterwards.
A terrifying incident unfolded in the early morning hours at Çarıklar Primary and Secondary School, located in the Çarıklar neighbourhood of Mersin's Anamur district. According to allegations, 12-year-old M.K. rapidly approached school principal Ender Kara (39), who was sitting in the schoolyard, and opened fire with a rifle the child had brought along.
Following reports from bystanders who heard the gunshots, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Seriously wounded principal Kara received initial treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

The child, who fled after the attack, was quickly apprehended and taken into custody at the school by gendarmerie teams acting on the orders of the Anamur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Security camera footage of the attack has also emerged. The recordings captured, second by second, the moments the child entered the schoolyard, opened fire with the rifle, and the principal was shot.
Classes at the school were suspended, while the investigation into the incident was reported to be ongoing.
