CHP Kahramanmaraş Deputy Ali Öztunç announced that maintenance fees are being collected from earthquake survivors in Kahramanmaraş for housing that has not yet been completed following the February 6, 2023, earthquakes.
Holding a press conference in Parliament regarding the problems experienced in Kahramanmaraş, Öztunç said, "They are giving keys to earthquake survivors, but there is no house." Öztunç stated the following:
"They are giving keys to earthquake survivors, but there is no house. They hand them over to the earthquake survivor saying, 'Here is your key, we have built the housing.' The survivor goes there, and there is no housing. Keys were given to the citizens just for show, but the housing units were not finished. Not only are they unfinished, but unfortunately, they are also collecting maintenance fees from the earthquake survivors for the housing. Thousands of liras in maintenance fees are being deducted, thousands of liras in maintenance fees are being sent, and thousands of liras in maintenance fees are being taken from the earthquake survivors."
Stating that many houses delivered after the earthquake were not finished but that maintenance fees were still being collected from the earthquake-affected citizens, Öztunç said:
"They are giving keys to earthquake survivors, but there is no house. They hand them over to the earthquake survivor saying, 'Here is your key, we have built the housing.' The survivor goes there, and there is no housing. A very large portion of the housing in Kahramanmaraş that was delivered, or claimed to have been delivered, has not been delivered. Because it is not finished, it is not completed.
