Tragic news regarding the elderly man missing in the Foça flood! His body has been recovered
In the flood disaster that occurred in the Foça district of İzmir, the lifeless body of 70-year-old Bülent Kaptanoğlu, who was swept away by floodwaters while trying to drive his vehicle through a culvert, has been found after three days of search efforts.
Heavy rainfall, which intensified on Thursday, October 23, in the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Fevzi Çakmak, and Cumhuriyet neighborhoods of Foça, caused flooding in the district. In the region where 144 kilograms of precipitation fell per square meter, 70-year-old Bülent Kaptanoğlu went missing after being swept away by floodwaters while attempting to drive his vehicle through a culvert in the Bucak neighborhood.
Following the incident, a large-scale search operation was launched by AFAD, gendarmerie, police teams, and amphibious teams affiliated with İZSU. During the search efforts continued on the morning of the third day, Kaptanoğlu's lifeless body was reached at 09:25.

The body, which was found on the Gediz River in the Yenibağarası neighborhood, approximately 11 kilometers away from the point where he went missing, in an area where İZSU amphibious teams and DSI construction machinery were working, was recovered from the water by the teams.
Authorities stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
