TÜİK announces Turkey's population: Increased by 160 thousand in the first half of the year
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced population data for quarterly periods for the first time. In the first half of 2025, Turkey's population increased by 159 thousand 910 people, reaching 85 million 824 thousand 854.
Turkey's population was determined to be 85 million 824 thousand 854 as of July 1. For the first time this year, TÜİK has published population statistics for three-month periods.
The population, which was 85 million 664 thousand 944 at the end of 2024, increased by 159 thousand 910 people in the first six months of 2025.
Looking at the gender distribution of the population, the proportion of men was recorded at 50.01 percent with 42 million 923 thousand 584 people, while the proportion of women was recorded at 49.99 percent with 42 million 901 thousand 270 people.
