Heavy rainfall in the Sapanca district of Sakarya caused flooding in some of the district's creeks. A two-story villa located by the creek in the Fevziye neighborhood collapsed and fell into the creek shortly after the water level rose.
The moment the villa collapsed was recorded by people in the vicinity. In the footage, it can be seen that the structure first tilted to the side due to the force of the current, and then completely collapsed.
Due to the precipitation, some houses and residential complexes in Sapanca were flooded. Transportation was disrupted on some roads along the routes of the Sarp, Keçi, İstanbul, Kurtköy, and Yanık creeks, and collapses also occurred at some bridge crossings.
It was stated that the water level also rose at the Dereköy connecting bridge over the Fevziye-Akçay Creek. It was reported that some bungalows near the creek are facing the danger of collapse.
Crews carried out excavation work in creek beds and on some roads to facilitate water flow. It was reported that the eastern part of the Kemer Cemetery was also filled with water and some graves were submerged.
