Allegations that an individual among those who came to assist with the forest fire in Bursa was committing theft caused chaos. Citizens attempted to lynch the suspect, but the gendarmerie intervened at the last moment.
As the forest fire that has been raging for days in Bursa's Gürsu district continues to affect a large area, numerous citizens from surrounding provinces have flocked to the region to support firefighting efforts. However, an incident in the village of Karahıdır suddenly turned the atmosphere of aid into chaos.
According to allegations, an unidentified person, who was said to have come to help, was caught committing theft in the village. The theft allegation spread quickly, and anger mounted. The crowd began to beat the suspect with kicks and punches. Those moments were recorded on mobile phones and spread rapidly on social media.
The incident, which turned into an attempted lynching, ended with the intervention of gendarmerie teams that arrived at the scene. The suspect, who was removed from the area with difficulty, was taken into custody. It was learned that an investigation has been launched into the individual who was saved from being lynched at the last moment.
