Angry at his girlfriend's boss, he threw a Molotov cocktail at the workplace: 'I did it for love, I'd do it again'

The incident occurred around 01:00 on Sunday night at a workplace on Alaaddin Kap Street in the Doğuş neighborhood of Konya's Karatay district. According to allegations, fire and police teams were dispatched to the area following reports that a Molotov cocktail had been thrown at the business. An investigation determined that a Molotov cocktail containing flammable material had been thrown at the workplace. Reviewing security camera footage, the Karatay District Police Department teams identified two masked individuals who had been loitering in front of the workplace for a while before lighting and throwing the Molotov cocktail.

"I DID IT FOR LOVE"

As a result of the police's detailed work, it was revealed that the suspects were 19-year-old Cem T. and his 23-year-old friend Muammer K. The suspects were apprehended and taken into custody during an operation at their location. Brought to Konya Numune Hospital for a health check, Cem T. drew attention when he responded to reporters' questions of "Why did you commit this act?" by saying, "I did it for love. I am not regretful; if it happens again, I will do it again."

PLANNED THE ACT AFTER HIS GIRLFRIEND'S MESSAGE

In his initial statement to the police, Cem T. said that his girlfriend, E.T., had sent him a message on the day of the incident saying, "They are treating me badly here." He stated that he became angry, called his friend Muammer K., and explained the situation. He stated that they met in the evening, drank alcohol together, and then bought gasoline to prepare the Molotov cocktail. He explained that he was the one who threw the prepared Molotov cocktail at the workplace and that they then fled the scene.

The suspects will be referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station are completed.
