A notable incident occurred yesterday evening on Fevzi Çakmak Street in the central Osmangazi district of Bursa. A person attempting to burn a Turkish flag located on the median was stopped by the intervention of a nearby citizen. The moments were recorded second by second on a mobile phone.
POLICE INTERVENED, SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Following the spread of the footage on social media, the Bursa Provincial Police Department took action. Investigations identified the person attempting to burn the flag as M.Ç. It was determined that the suspect holds a 50 percent disability report. M.Ç. was referred to the courthouse following processing at the police station.
BURSA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE INFORMED THE PUBLIC
An official statement regarding the matter was released by the Bursa Governor's Office. The statement included the following: "Regarding the footage appearing on social media on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, showing an individual attempting to burn our Turkish flag on Fevzi Çakmak Street in the Osmangazi district of our province; the suspect, identified as M.Ç. through the work conducted by our Provincial Police Department, has been apprehended, and the disability ID card found on the individual indicates a 50 percent disability. A judicial investigation has been initiated regarding the matter, and the individual will be referred to judicial authorities on May 21, 2025."
