Hostage crisis in Kocaeli: 1 person shot! First images from the scene have arrived

The armed attack and hostage crisis that took place at a restaurant in Gebze have ended with the intervention of security forces. The incident occurred around 12:15 PM at a restaurant located on İstasyon Street in the Osman Yılmaz neighborhood.

The attacker, whose identity has not yet been determined, entered the establishment with a gun, shot one person inside, and left them seriously injured. He then locked the restaurant door and took those inside hostage. Upon notification of the incident, numerous police teams and special operations units were dispatched to the area. Security forces took extensive security measures in the vicinity.

The attacker refused to hand over the injured person to medical teams and did not allow anyone to enter for a period of time. However, the suspect was neutralized during the operation. The seriously injured person was taken to the hospital after receiving initial treatment at the scene. It was learned that the injured person remains in critical condition.
