In Amasya, Mehmet Fatih Hatipoğlu, who was checking his field, discovered 25 deadly ticks on himself thanks to a selfie he took as a souvenir. A selfie taken by 42-year-old Mehmet Fatih Hatipoğlu, who went to his village for a holiday visit in Amasya, saved his life. Hatipoğlu, who went to check his wheat field in the village of Sıracevizler, took a photo of himself with his mobile phone to have a quick memory. However, while examining the photo, he noticed small creatures moving on his t-shirt. When he looked closely, he realized they were ticks and experienced great panic.

After noticing the 25 ticks on him, Hatipoğlu immediately put on gloves and began cleaning them off carefully. The father of three, who knew that tick contact could be fatal, managed to remove the ticks without letting them come into contact with his body.

Hatipoğlu, who underwent a health check after the incident, did not show any symptoms related to Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF). "This photo almost saved my life. If I hadn't taken a selfie, I might not have noticed the ticks for hours. Not everyone might be as lucky as I am," he said.

Health officials, who issue warnings against ticks that increase in the Central Black Sea Region during the summer months, recommend choosing long clothing when going to rural areas and performing a detailed body check upon returning.
