This time, weapons were stolen from the courthouse evidence locker!
It has been revealed that 12 weapons have gone missing from the evidence room of the Adalar Courthouse in Istanbul. While 3 of the missing weapons have been recovered, the court clerk identified as having taken and sold the weapons has been arrested. Search efforts for the remaining 9 weapons are ongoing.
While Turkey continues to discuss the incident involving a civil servant who stole gold and silver worth approximately 150 million TL from the evidence room at the Büyükçekmece Courthouse and fled abroad, a similar scandal has now occurred at the Istanbul Adalar Courthouse.
COURT CLERK TOOK WEAPONS FROM THE EVIDENCE ROOM AND SOLD THEM
It was determined that a court clerk working at the Adalar Courthouse had irregularly removed weapons from the judicial evidence room and sold them. Following an inspection of the Crime Property and Evidence Depository under the Istanbul Adalar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 3 of the 12 weapons understood to have been stolen were recovered. Search efforts for the 9 missing weapons are continuing.
The court clerk identified as responsible for the incident was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
