12 US states sue over Trump's high tariffs

According to a report by CNN, the states of Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Vermont have turned to the judiciary to seek the cancellation of the high customs tariffs.

In the petition filed at the US Court of International Trade in New York, the states argued that the high tariff policies of President Donald Trump's administration are illegal, claiming that these practices have brought chaos to the American economy.

The petition, which alleges that Americans are being subjected to an 'illegal tax hike' through these customs duties, argues that the Trump administration has 'upended the constitutional order' and demands that the 'customs tariff' be terminated.

New York Attorney General Letitia James also stated, "Donald Trump promised to lower prices and reduce the cost of living, but these illegal tariffs will have the exact opposite effect on American families."
