1,300-year-old tomb discovered in Panama!

A tomb estimated to be more than 1,300 years old has been discovered in Panama. Two bodies, gold and ceramic artifacts, breastplates, jewelry, and a gold-plated bag were recovered from the tomb.

1,300-year-old tomb discovered in Panama!

Linette Montenegro, National Director of Cultural Heritage at the Panama Ministry of Culture, announced that a pre-Hispanic tomb was found during excavations at the El Caño archaeological site in the Coclé province.

In a statement to the press, Montenegro said, "We have discovered a tomb estimated to be more than 1,300 years old. Two bodies, a dowry, some gold, ceramics, five breastplates, gold beads, four bracelets, earrings, a gold-plated bag, and various necklaces were recovered from the tomb."

Montenegro stated that they anticipate the tomb may have belonged to a ruler of the period.

Archaeological excavations at El Caño have been ongoing since 2008.
