17 injured in Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow

A statement has been released regarding the toll of the largest drone attack in the last two years, which Ukraine carried out against the Russian capital, Moscow, with at least 194 drones. Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov announced that 17 people were injured in the attack.

Following the attack, which caused a fire at the Moscow Oil Refinery that filled the sky with thick smoke, authorities called on residents in the affected areas to keep their windows closed. Families with children and the elderly were asked to evacuate these areas.

Flights at all major airports in Moscow were temporarily suspended following the attack.

Meanwhile, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin had announced that air defense systems had shot down at least 194 drones heading toward the capital.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the Moscow attack was part of a more comprehensive Ukrainian operation targeting a large part of Russia, announcing that air defense systems had intercepted at least 555 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including those over the Sea of Azov.

The Moscow Oil Refinery was struck and damaged once again by Ukraine last Tuesday.
