179 people dead in Nigeria floods
At least 179 people have lost their lives in floods caused by heavy rains that have been affecting Nigeria for weeks.
Heavy rains that have been affecting Nigeria for weeks have caused flooding in many regions. In a statement made by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), it was reported that at least 179 people have lost their lives in the floods and tens of thousands of people have been displaced.
The statement noted that the regions most affected by the heavy rains and floods were 7 states in the northwest, stating that a total of 89 people lost their lives in these states and more than 25 thousand hectares of agricultural land were affected.

In the floods that occurred in Nigeria in 2022, more than 600 people lost their lives, approximately 1.4 million people left their homes, and 440 thousand hectares of agricultural land were destroyed.
