19 candidates of Turkish descent enter parliament in Germany: Which party won how many seats?

In the general elections held in Germany, 19 candidates of Turkish descent were elected as members of the Bundestag. The SPD, The Left Party, CDU, The Greens, and CSU were the parties that enabled candidates of Turkish origin to enter parliament.

19 candidates of Turkish descent enter parliament in Germany: Which party won how many seats?

According to the provisional official election results, 19 candidates of Turkish origin have qualified to enter the 21st Bundestag. The success of candidates of Turkish descent from various political parties in the elections drew attention. The Social Democratic Party (SPD), The Left Party (Die Linke), the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), The Greens (Grüne), and the Christian Social Union (CSU) were among the parties that produced members of parliament of Turkish descent.

In the previous general elections in Germany, 18 candidates of Turkish origin had entered the Bundestag as members of parliament. The increase in this number to 19 in these elections demonstrates the rise in political representation of candidates of Turkish descent.

The SPD enabled 7 candidates of Turkish descent to enter the Bundestag. Hakan Demir, Metin Hakverdi, Macit Karaahmetoğlu, Mahmut Özdemir, Aydan Özoğuz, Derya Türk Nachbaur, and Serdar Yüksel were the names elected to parliament from the SPD.

Die Linke led the way for 7 candidates of Turkish descent to be elected as members of parliament. Gökay Akbulut, Ateş Gürpınar, Ferat Koçak, Cansın Köktürk, Cansu Özdemir, Cem Hamit İnce, and Mirze Edis qualified to enter the Bundestag from The Left Party.

The CDU enabled 2 candidates of Turkish descent to be elected to parliament. Serap Güler and Tijen Ataoğlu were among the names elected as members of parliament from the CDU.

The Greens (Grüne) also led the way for 2 candidates of Turkish descent to enter the Bundestag. Ayşe Asar and Filiz Polat were the candidates elected as members of parliament from The Greens.

The CSU enabled a candidate of Turkish descent to become a member of parliament for the first time in these elections. Hülya Düber became the first member of parliament of Turkish descent to enter the Bundestag from the CSU.

The 19 members of parliament of Turkish descent elected to the Bundestag will officially begin their duties in the coming days.
