19 people, 18 of them women, killed in terrorist attack in Manbij: Is the YPG/PKK behind the attack?

The vehicle exploded outside the city of Manbij next to another vehicle carrying mostly female agricultural workers.

According to a report by the Associated Press (AP), 15 women were also injured in the attack. Speaking to the AP, Munir Mustafa, Deputy Director of the Syria Civil Defense, stated that this was the seventh car bomb explosion in Manbij in just over a month.

Mustafa emphasized that the attacks in Manbij, which neighbors Syria's second-largest city Aleppo, threaten Syria's post-war security and economic recovery.

Providing information that most of the explosions occurred at night, Mustafa stated the following:

''The continuation of attacks on civilian-populated areas in Syria and the targeting of civilians trying to recover from the effects of the Assad regime's war... threatens the lives of civilians, deepens humanitarian tragedies, weakens educational and agricultural activities and livelihoods, and worsens the humanitarian situation in Syria.''

Manbij-based activist and journalist Jamil al-Sayyid stated the following regarding the efforts of Manbij residents to take security measures:

'The people of Manbij are focusing on protecting certain neighborhoods of the city, as well as making efforts to install surveillance cameras in the city's main neighborhoods.'

The SNA had recaptured the city from YPG/PKK terrorists in December. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
