Afghanistan's Nangarhar province saw 20 people lose their lives after a boat capsized in a river.
According to reports in the Afghan press, the province's Director of Information and Culture, Quraishi Badloon, announced that a boat capsized in a river in the Momand Dara district during the morning hours.
Badloon stated that 20 people lost their lives in the incident, noting that there were children and women among the deceased.
Noting that search and rescue operations are ongoing, Badloon reported that 5 people have been rescued so far.
An investigation has been launched into the capsizing of the boat.
The Afghan administration's official news agency, Bakhtar, announced that there were 25 people on the boat.
