21 people died from the cold in 6 days

It has been reported that the number of people who have lost their lives since January 12 in the states of Tennessee, New York, Arkansas, Kansas, Oregon, and Mississippi has risen to 21 due to the relentless snowfall and cold wave affecting 6 states in various regions of the country.

While the Tennessee Department of Health and local authorities stated that a total of 7 people have died, it was announced that 14 people have also lost their lives in the other 5 states.

Meteorological services reported that more than 75 centimeters of snow has fallen around the city of Buffalo near the Canadian border in New York, making travel by vehicle almost impossible, and that wind speeds mixed with snow will reach up to 65 kilometers per hour in some places.

It was stated that cold temperatures in the central parts of the country will return to dangerous levels by Friday, increasing the risk of frostbite. According to the flight tracking site FlightAware, 1,090 flights were canceled in the US today, and 4,221 flights were delayed.

The Poweroutages site, which provides statistics on power outages in the US, also noted that nearly 95 thousand people in three states across the country were left without electricity today due to winter conditions.
