Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid bin Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi, who were accused of planning the September 11 attacks in the US in 2001, have become informants.
According to a written statement from the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), the 3 individuals held at Guantanamo have reached an agreement with military prosecutors.
In its statement, the Pentagon noted that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid bin Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi reached an agreement as a result of negotiations with military prosecutors, but stated that the details of the agreement would not be made public at this time.

The New York Times (NYT) newspaper, citing a statement sent by the prosecution to the relatives of the victim families of the 9/11 attacks, stated that the individuals in question agreed to accept the charges against them in exchange for receiving life imprisonment instead of being tried with the death penalty.
According to the report, the 3 individuals, who have been held at Guantanamo since 2003, reached an agreement with military prosecutors as a result of approximately 27 months of negotiations.
Reports in the American media pointed out that the lawsuits filed by the families of those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks are ongoing and that these individuals may object to the agreement in question.
