Israel has released 33 Palestinian prisoners it held in its jails in accordance with the agreement reached with Hamas.

Those among the released prisoners who reside in the occupied West Bank left the Israeli Ofer Military Prison on a bus belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross and headed to Ramallah.

Israeli soldiers intervened with tear gas and live ammunition against those who had gathered in the town of Beitunia to welcome the Palestinian prisoners.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that one Palestinian was killed as a result of fire opened by Israeli soldiers.

Child prisoners living in East Jerusalem were also delivered to their families by Israeli police. Israeli police deployed around the homes of the released Palestinian prisoners in East Jerusalem and set up checkpoints on the roads.

Israeli police raided the homes of some Palestinian prisoners, warning their families "not to hold any celebrations and not to gather in the houses."

When 16-year-old Palestinian girl Nufuz Hammad, a resident of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem, returned home after being held in an Israeli prison for approximately 2 years, her family could not hold back their tears of joy.

Hammad, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison on allegations of attempting to stab a Jewish settler in occupied East Jerusalem, had denied the charges brought against her.

Under the agreement reached between Hamas and Israel, 50 Israeli women and child prisoners from the Gaza Strip and 150 Palestinian women and child prisoners from Israeli jails have been released.

As a result of mediation efforts led primarily by Qatar, Hamas and Israel had reached a consensus on the release of 30 Palestinian prisoners for every 10 Israeli prisoners released from the blockaded Gaza Strip, and for the "humanitarian pause" in the fighting to be extended by 24 hours.
