400 employees of company sold for $3.7 billion become millionaires: 'This is life-changing money'

Jyoti Bansal, the owner and founder of the US software company AppDynamics, sold the firm for 3 billion 700 million dollars. 400 AppDynamics employees who held company shares became millionaires thanks to the shares, which increased in value following the sale decision.

Days before AppDynamics was set to go public, communications technology giant Cisco offered to acquire the company for 3.7 billion dollars. As the founder and chairman of the startup, Bansal was going to become wealthy either way. However, only one of the two options would allow hundreds of company employees to earn a high income.

Upon Bansal's acceptance of the offer, the value of the company shares held by approximately 400 AppDynamics employees rose to at least 1 million dollars.

'HE REGRETTED SELLING'

It was also alleged that Bansal felt regret after the sale. Although he and his employees made money, it is said that the founder of AppDynamics wanted to continue developing the company.

Speaking to the CNBC Make It program, Bansal stated, 'We had dozens of employees who had outcomes of over 5 million dollars. This is life-changing money.'

After the sale, Bansal actually regretted his choice. Bansal's representative told the press the following:

'He believed he could continue to grow AppDynamics and felt aimless without a startup to run. Today, (Bansal) is the CEO and co-founder of two software startups, Traceable and Harness, the latter of which was most recently valued at 3.7 billion dollars in 2022.'
