5.9 magnitude earthquake in Afghanistan: 8 dead

An earthquake that occurred in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan has caused loss of life in the capital, Kabul. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) announced that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9 and occurred at a depth of 177 kilometers.

Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health spokesperson Sharafat Zaman stated in a press release, "8 people lost their lives in the earthquake. The bodies of the family in the Gosfandara region of Kabul have been transferred to the forensic medicine unit."

Zaman also noted that a 2-year-old child was injured during the earthquake and was transferred to a children's hospital in the region.

Pakistan had reported a 6.3 magnitude earthquake

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) of the Pakistan Meteorological Department had also reported that a 6.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Hindu Kush region at 21:13 local time. It was noted that the severe tremors were felt in various parts of the country, including the capital Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, but no loss of life or injuries were reported.
