The death toll from the plane crash in Brazil is becoming clear. Following the accident in the city of Vinhedo, in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazilian President Lula da Silva stated, “I ask everyone to stand up and observe a minute of silence. Because a plane has crashed in the city of Vinhedo in Sao Paulo with 58 passengers and 4 crew members, and it appears that all of them have lost their lives.”

Authorities stated that the small twin-engine passenger plane was en route from the city of Cascavel in the state of Parana to Sao Paulo. It was learned that the plane lost its signal around 13:30 local time.

In a statement made by the Brazilian Civil Defense, it was reported that the plane damaged a building as it crashed, but no one in the building was injured. In a statement issued by Voepass Airlines, it was noted that, “There is no confirmation yet as to how the accident occurred.”

While local residents recorded the moments the plane spiraled down, the footage showed the aircraft catching fire after the crash.
