66 Chinese military aircraft detected in Taiwan Strait
It has been announced that 66 Chinese military aircraft were detected around the island of Taiwan, with 56 of them crossing the line assumed to limit the spheres of influence between the parties in the Taiwan Strait.
In a statement on the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense's X social media account, it was reported that 66 aircraft and 7 naval vessels belonging to the Chinese military were spotted around the island.
The statement indicated that 56 of these aircraft crossed the de facto "median line" in the Taiwan Strait and entered the area that Taiwan has declared as its "Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ)."
TAIWAN-CHINA DISPUTE
Taiwan, which China claims as part of its territory, has enjoyed de facto independence since 1949. The dispute over separation and sovereignty that emerged between mainland China and Taiwan following the civil war continues.
Beijing, which has increased its military pressure on Taiwan in recent years, emphasizes that it does not rule out the use of force for the reunification of the island with the mainland.
