7.3 magnitude earthquake in Vanuatu caught on security camera! 1 person lost their life

A 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Port Vila, the capital of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean, at 12:47 local time.

1 PERSON LOST THEIR LIFE

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 57.1 kilometers. Numerous buildings and vehicles were damaged. Police reported that 1 person lost their life.

A building housing foreign missions, including the embassies of the US, UK, France, and New Zealand, partially collapsed.

In footage shared by Dan McGarry from the investigative journalism organization Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), it was seen that the road connecting Port Vila to the international shipping terminal was closed due to a landslide.

TSUNAMI WARNING LIFTED

The tsunami warning issued following the violent earthquake was lifted shortly after.

The extent of the damage from the earthquake, which was felt across most of the capital, is not yet known.
