82 percent of Germans are dissatisfied with the government

A survey conducted in Germany has reported that the rate of those dissatisfied with the government is 82 percent. According to the survey commissioned by ARD television, which was conducted between December 4-6 with the participation of 1,300 people, the rate of those satisfied with the government's performance was determined to be 17 percent, while the rate of those dissatisfied was 82 percent.

According to the survey results, the vote share of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), one of the coalition partners, fell from 16 percent to 14 percent compared to last month. While the Green Party increased its votes by one point from 14 percent to 15 percent, the Free Democratic Party's (FDP) votes remained unchanged at 4 percent. The opposition Christian Union parties (CDU/CSU) stood out as the party that could receive the most votes with 32 percent. The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) fell by one point to 21 percent, while maintaining its position as the second strongest political party.

Decline in support for Chancellor Scholz

On the other hand, the rate of those satisfied with Chancellor Olaf Scholz's performance was found to be only 20 percent. This rate is the lowest ever recorded for a chancellor in surveys conducted by ARD since 1997. The government is being criticized for not fighting the climate crisis sufficiently and for failing to manage migration policy and the ongoing budget crisis. It was noted that the survey participants emphasized that Chancellor Scholz is particularly inadequate in dealing with crises and has communication problems.
