88.4 million people in Nigeria live in extreme poverty

Stating that an estimated 88.4 million people in the country live in extreme poverty, Fadeshemi noted that as of 2022, 12.9 percent of the global population living in extreme poverty was in Nigeria.

Conveying that the government has taken significant steps to combat poverty in the country, Fadeshemi stated that the government has organized various programs in cooperation with farmers.

In Nigeria, which possesses the African continent's rich oil and natural gas reserves, issues such as income inequality and attacks by Boko Haram and armed gang members negatively affect the country's economy.
