The agenda in the United Kingdom is the deportation plan implemented by the former government. The newly appointed immigration minister said in a statement on Monday that Britain's last Conservative government spent nearly one billion dollars on its controversial plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda.

According to the announcement made on Monday, the previous British government spent much more money than previously disclosed to send asylum seekers to Rwanda.

They agreed to go in exchange for 3 thousand pounds

The policy, which called for asylum seekers to be sent to the African country for processing and resettlement, was supported by successive Conservative prime ministers. However, no asylum seekers were deported to Rwanda under this initiative. Only four people were put on a plane and sent to the Central African country this year, and these individuals agreed to go voluntarily after being offered 3 thousand pounds each.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said in an interview on Monday that the deportation plan cost the government approximately 900 million dollars.

Following the Labour Party government's landslide victory earlier this month, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that he would cancel the Rwanda Plan.

The government said it would closely examine whether any funds could be recovered, but a Rwandan government spokesperson said earlier this month that the agreement between the two countries did not include a refund clause and wished the country good luck.
