A first from the Maldives: The Israel decision

The bill, submitted to the Cabinet by the main opposition party in the country, the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), which prevents holders of Israeli passports from entering the Maldives, was approved by a majority vote in Parliament.

THEY CALLED FOR ACTION

The relevant legislative amendment has been forwarded to the Security Committee for review. In Parliament, both ruling and opposition lawmakers called for the acceleration of the legislative amendment process in line with the wishes of the government and the public.

ENTRY WILL BE BANNED

Following the final vote, the entry of all Israeli passport holders, including those with dual citizenship, into the Maldives will be banned.

Following protests in the Maldives to prevent the entry of Israeli citizens into the country, the Office of the President of the Maldives announced in early June that it had decided to make a legislative amendment to block the entry of Israeli passport holders into the Maldives.
