Access to TikTok blocked in one country
In Kyrgyzstan, an access ban has been imposed on the China-based social media platform TikTok.
In Kyrgyzstan, users have been unable to access the social media platform TikTok as of today via browsers such as Google, Opera, and Safari.
However, the version of TikTok installed on mobile phones via the Apple and Google Play Store continues to function.
The Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy had made the decision to ban TikTok in the country in August 2023, aiming to protect children from information that could negatively affect their moral development.
The ministry had applied to the Ministry of Digital Development on the same day to implement the decision.
The Ministry of Digital Development sent a letter to internet service providers yesterday to restrict access to TikTok.
