After war and disease in Gaza, now scorching heat! 'We have received reports that at least two children have died'

UNRWA stated in a post on its X social media account regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza under Israeli attacks that children are paying the highest price, and called for an immediate ceasefire.

The statement emphasized that displaced Gazans have access to an average of only one liter of water per day, an amount far below the daily minimum access to 15 liters of water set by the Sphere Standards.

The statement, which highlighted that humanitarian conditions in Gaza are worsening due to rising temperatures, included remarks from UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini.

Lazzarini stated, "We have received reports that at least two children have died due to the heat. What more is there to endure?: Death, hunger, disease, displacement, and living in greenhouse-like structures in scorching heat."

Ismail al-Thawabta, Director of the Government Media Office in Gaza, previously told Anadolu Agency, "Israel has killed more than 34,000 Palestinians so far, 14,800 of whom are children. The genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is still ongoing."

According to a previous statement by the Ministry of Health in Gaza, at least 34,388 Palestinians, including 14,685 children and 9,670 women, have been killed and 77,437 people have been injured in the attacks launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7.
