AI-powered 'fatwa robot' enters service
Saudi Arabia has announced that an AI-powered "fatwa robot" has entered service and that technologies have been developed to monitor and organize crowds at the Masjid al-Haram.
According to a report by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Masjid al-Haram and the Prophet's Mosque announced that the second version of the AI-powered "Menarat al-Haramain Robot" has been put into service to answer the religious questions of pilgrims at the Masjid al-Haram.
With this step, the aim is to keep pace with smart digital transformations and to develop modern technologies and artificial intelligence to enrich the religious visits of pilgrims to the Kaaba.
The robot was specifically designed for the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Masjid al-Haram and the Prophet's Mosque to serve as a smart, AI-based resource for answering religious questions and requests.
In addition to providing answers from an integrated database, the robot also allows for direct communication with muftis via video call if a pre-recorded question is not available.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES WILL BE USED
The Presidency will utilize advanced technologies during this Hajj season.
Floor sensors and entry readers are being used to manage and monitor crowds at the main entrances and exits of the Kaaba, increasing operational efficiency by monitoring and improving the flow of the crowd.
These advanced technologies operate through sophisticated smart cameras that detect movement in and out, allowing the flow of pilgrims to be monitored in real-time and congestion points to be identified more accurately.
Meanwhile, pilgrims have also begun arriving at the Dhu al-Hulayfah Miqat (Miqat Mosque) in preparation for the Hajj season and their journey to Mecca.
