Air leak crisis on the International Space Station: Repair work halted
The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced that repair work on cracks causing an air leak in the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) has been halted, and that the crew, who had been temporarily evacuated to spacecraft, have been instructed to return to the station.
A new development has occurred regarding the air leak incident in the Russian segment of the ISS.
NASA spokesperson Bethany Stevens stated that structural repair work has been paused to allow for the evaluation of measurements and data, and that for this reason, the astronauts have been instructed to return to the station.
According to the Russian news agency Interfax, the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) announced that two cracks had been identified and that one of them has already been repaired.
The Russian news agency TASS reported that neither the crew nor the systems on the ISS are in any danger.
NASA had previously instructed four astronauts and one cosmonaut to move to the Crew Dragon spacecraft docked at the station due to the air leak on the International Space Station, to put on their spacesuits in case of a situation requiring emergency evacuation, and to prepare for a potential evacuation.
