Airstrikes in Syria, Iran-backed groups targeted

The US has launched its retaliatory strikes. US aircraft are hitting Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq. According to information obtained from local sources, aircraft of unknown origin carried out airstrikes on the Mazar Ali Base near the Mayadin district in Deir ez-Zor, as well as locations housing Iran-backed groups in the villages of Haydariyya and Shibli.

The US Central Command reported that 85 targets were hit in Iraq and Syria.

The statement said, "Bomber aircraft also participated in the attack. Targets belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard were hit. 125 precision bombs were used in the attacks. Among the locations struck were command and control centers, as well as ammunition and drone depots."

US President Joe Biden had announced that a drone attack was carried out against United States forces stationed in northeastern Jordan, near the Syrian border.

It was stated that 3 US soldiers were killed and at least 34 soldiers were injured in the attack.

STATEMENT FROM BIDEN

US President Joe Biden announced that they began responding to the base attack today by targeting the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated militia groups in Syria and Iraq, and that this response will continue at "times and places of our choosing."

US President Biden issued a written statement regarding the attack on the American base on the Syria-Jordan border on January 28.

Biden argued that the attack, which killed 3 US soldiers, was carried out by militia groups supported by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and noted that he had just attended the funeral ceremony for the soldiers in question.

Regarding the response they would give to this attack, he stated, "This afternoon, at my direction, US military forces struck targets at IRGC and affiliated militia facilities in Iraq and Syria. We began our response today, and it will continue at times and places of our choosing."

Noting that the US is not seeking military conflict in the Middle East, Biden emphasized that they will, however, respond to those who target American soldiers.
