Alert level raised to 'orange' in India
In India's capital, New Delhi, the alert level has been raised from yellow to "orange" after temperatures rose 5 degrees above normal, reaching 44.7 degrees Celsius.
According to the Hindustan Times newspaper, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that air temperatures in the capital, New Delhi, have risen 5 degrees above normal.
While the alert level in New Delhi, where thermometers showed 44.7 degrees, was raised from yellow to "orange," it was also announced that the humidity level in the city reached 39 percent.
In India, where extreme heat is prevalent, 40 people lost their lives last week due to the hot weather.
An all-time high temperature of 52.9 degrees had been recorded in the capital, New Delhi.
