Azerbaijani President İlham Aliyev received religious leaders who were in the capital, Baku, for the 7th Meeting of the Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the Seyid Yahya Baküvi International Conference.
Speaking at the reception, Aliyev touched upon the occupation period and drew attention to the destruction Azerbaijan had experienced. Stating that Armenia had also targeted mosques, Aliyev said, "We drove the occupiers from our lands, we waved the Azerbaijani flag in every corner of Karabakh and East Zangezur, and we put an end to separatism.
The separatist leaders, war criminals, and child killers are serving their sentences in Azerbaijani prisons today. This is the triumph of justice. In other words, justice has completely prevailed, and the Azerbaijani people, united as one fist, have restored their territorial integrity, sovereignty, international law, and justice."
"Armenia was deliberately and intentionally keeping animals, keeping pigs in mosques"
Stating that when Azerbaijanis returned to their lands after 30 years, they saw ruined cities, villages, and destroyed mosques, Aliyev said, "65 mosques were completely destroyed by the Armenian state—I want to emphasize this, this was Armenia's state policy. Some were in a semi-destroyed state. Armenia was deliberately and intentionally keeping animals, keeping pigs, keeping cows in the mosques. In other words, to humiliate us, to belittle us, understanding our sensitivities, they did not shy away from such barbaric acts, intentionally to hurt our people even more. In fact, this was an insult not only to us and our people but to the entire Islamic world. This is the true face of the Armenian state. We must never forget this, and we will not forget it."
"There is an undeclared war against the Islamic world"
Stating that the activities carried out against the Islamic religion are a deliberate policy, Aliyev said, "There is an undeclared war against our religion and the Islamic world, and Islamophobia is a small part of it. These insulting acts against our values and the holy Quran are being carried out to equate, discredit, and smear the Muslim world with terrorism. These are not happening by chance; this is a deliberate policy. We must be united against this."
"The European Parliament is a den of bribe-takers"
Reminding that no sanctions were imposed on Armenia at the Council of Europe, İlham Aliyev said, "We completely liberated Karabakh in September 2023, rooted out separatism, and arrested the separatists. Four months later, the Council of Europe imposed sanctions on us. Look, this is their true face. The European Parliament is a den of bribe-takers. Millions of dollars in suitcases were found in the home of its vice president, and they covered it all up. As if nothing like that had happened. Look at the European Parliament; it is composed of these Islamophobes, and this should always be at the center of our attention."
